Actually since he was in public, he didn't need a model release. It's perfectly legal to take pictures of strangers in a public setting.

Although I suspect he didn't actually take any of these pictures. So that's a whole other issue.

Actually, he can. Paparazzi take pictures of celebrities and then sell them to websites without requiring a model release because the celebrities were out and about, in public. Same thing with regular people on the street. Anyone can take their picture and use that picture however they like, because the person was out in public.

Please don't think I'm defending him, however. All I'm saying is that if he did indeed take these pictures, then it's perfectly legal for him to post them on DeviantArt without even informing the women in the pictures.

While I'm definitely in favour of promoting unconventional beauty, I think it's unfair to post pictures of these women without their permission. I know I wouldn't want someone putting my bikini shot up on the internet without asking.
